Back to School: Tools for College and High School Journalists
It’s back-to-school time, and college and high school media are planning coverage of their schools for the coming semester. It’s a daunting task, but there are resources that can help make that sophomore’s copy sing like Edward R. Murrow.

A great site by Francis Frizzo at Hofstra University.
Associated Collegiate Press and Student Press Law Center also offer training and the latter legal support for college media.
For high school journalists, there are the usual suspects as far as journalism organizations: Journalism Education Association, National Scholastic Press Association, Student Press Law Center, Columbia Scholastic Press Association and Quill and Scroll.
A NewsHound’s Guide to Student Journalism takes an innovative approach. It’s a comic book that doubles as a high school textbook to civically engage young people.
Expert sources: Finding expert sources can be challenging for student journalists, but there are several databases for them to find experts who are willing to talk on this Toolbox page.
